Snowglobe Danae

1096

Danae was painted by Artemisia around 1612.
The story goes that Acrisios, father of Danae and King of Argos, knowing from a prophecy that his daughter's son would kill him, locked his daughter in a tower of bronze. Jupiter, transformed into a shower of gold, entered the tower and mated with Danae, giving birth to Perseus, who killed his maternal grandfather.
Relive this mythological moment by shaking the object to spread the famous golden rain over Danae's body.
