Description

The official catalog of the exhibition : Füssli, The realm of dreams and fantastic

Atypical artist, born in Rome but having lived in London, Johann Heinrich Füssli (1741-1825) is exhibited at the Jacquemart-André Museum in Paris. A man of letters and a spirit of the Enlightenment, Füssli is a complex and fascinating artist. Breaking with neoclassicism and romanticism, he populates his work with hybrid creatures, terrifying demons or fictional characters straight out of dreams, nightmares or Shakespearean theater that fascinate him.
